12-year Term Limits
Sadly, not every Representative has inherited George Washington's ability to relinquish power. 97% of PAC money goes to incumbents, career politicians who stay in office and keep special interests happy.
The benefits of a higher Congressional turnover rate are many and varied:
It keeps corruption from growing deep roots within government systems and leadership
It encourages more participation in our representative democracy
It opens up the field for fresh candidates, and fresh ideas
Leaders feel urgency to deliver results and leave a positive legacy
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Term limits are a necessary check on the power of our elected representatives. And if our President needs them, so does the legislative branch.
